I am officially a Pottery Barn hack

So once again I have stolen a great idea from Pottery Barn. Don't be mad at me Pottery Barn, my mother always said when someone copies your idea it is the highest form of flattery. Besides, you don't even sell this product any more, although you can buy the set on Ebay for a buy it now price of $59.99. Ya ummmm I'll pass on that. Any who here is my latest Pottery Barn inspiration:

I love these plates. Wouldn't they just look fabulous over my french doors on either side of my vintage coffee sign? Yes, I think so! However I don't like the price tag. So once again here is my attempt to make it on my own. I found three cream plates at (drum roll please) the Dollar Store. Yep, three dollars and twenty four cents later, I have myself a blank canvas to work with. I was going to use transfers and print everything on them and adhere them to the plate, unfortunately this did not work for me (I'm dreaming of a silhouette, ahhh someday you will be mine and we shall apply vinyl to all my decor). Until then I decided to freehand with some paint and a brush. Here is what I got for ya:

I LOVE them! I got the vintage "feel" by dabbing on some wood stain after the paint dried.

I bought some plate hangers for $1.99 each and attached them to the plates:

These little guys here take forever to adhere:
I then hung them up over my french doors and my little window above the sink. The result:

Pretty nifty for a total project cost of $9.69 (including tax). Yes, I rock thank you, thank you!

 Happy painting!

I've been eyeballing those pb plates for a while, I love your version. And so very thrifty too! Stopping by from Cindy's MIFM party.
