Hello! Remember me??

I know, I know it's been forever......again. I am a blog slacker. Sorry. I hope you all will still come around these parts when I do post. Which hopefully will be more than once a month. I just can't seem to schedule time to post stuff. I sure have been busy sewing though! I have made 8 little outfits for Emma. They are all so adorable. I can't wait to put her in them. 12 more weeks to go people! Where has the time gone?!? I still have sooooo much to do! Any who, here is pictures of the outfits I have made so far. I PROMISE there will be tutorials to each and every one in the very near future. Like before Emma is here because then all bets are off ;)

Dress with ruffle detail front:
newborn tutu with bow. This is what she is going to wear in her newborn photos with a giant flower on her head and some pearls. I can't wait!!
Newborn dress with shirred sides and ric rac detail.
Romper. I LOVE ROMPERS!! so cute!
Pink polka dot dress with eyelet trim
dress with criss cross back so the ruffle butt shows on the back. Awwww!!
Newborn romper with shirred top and felt flower. LOVE this one!
So that's what I have been busy with. Oh and it was Ethan's birthday at the end of March. I did a TON of stuff for that. I will do a whole post about his train themed party soon. It was adorable!

Hope everyone is doing great! Sorry I haven't visited any blogs lately either. Hope to here from you!

Velcro Strap Dress Tutorial

I made my first dress for Emma and it was my own pattern! I love how it turned out:

So I didn't have a pattern for this and I didn't use another dress as a guide for the size. I bought a 0-3 month dress yesterday to use as a template for another dress I am working on and I think this dress is about 3-6 months. We shall see whne my cutie pie gets here in 4 months :)

I got 1/2 yard of pink polka dot fabric
3/4 yard of floral ( I still have enough fabric left of both to make another outfit with)

I cut two pieces for the front with a heart shape at the top and then two pieces for the back with long straps that will fold over to velcro on the front part.

Before you sew front and back pieces together, sew on one side of velcro:

Now face rigths sides together and sew about an 1/8 th inch seem around all edges except the bottom. You want to be able to flip it right side.
Turn right side out and iron. Now face velcro pieces down and sew edges together with a zig-zag stitch.
Sew buttons on right above velcro:
Take a long strip of the polka dot fabric that is 6 inches thick and fold over make a tube:
Sew with a long stitch to ruffle fabric:
Cut out two 7x18 rectangles and sew sides together with a zig zag stitch:
 Now attach your ruffle trim:
Sew on ric rac to cover stitch lines from ruffle trim:
Gather the top of the skirt by sewing a long stitch and pulling top stitch:
Fit to top and sew inside out on the edges. You are now finished!

I think I may add a giant flower to the front of it. What do you think??

Chevron baby quilt

I have been MIA this week because every free minute I have had has been spent making Emma a quilt. This is the first quilt I have ever made. I am not going to sugar coat it people, it was A LOT of work. I have been working on this thing for three weeks now. I am pretty much finished. The trim still has some pins in it because I ran out of thread, but I really really wanted to share my hard work :) I am also going to have a friend embroider it with Emma Grace on it. I will definitely post pics when that part is finished. So without further ado I give you my very first quilt:

I LOVE it! I am going to have to say it was worth all the work! So as you can see Emma's nursery colors are going to be baby pink and grey.

I used the chevron tutorial HERE to piece the quilt together and I used the tutorial HERE to learn basting, quilting and binding. I think the very hardest part for me was the binding I had to redo it twice.

Stick around because I have just started sewing for this little baby girl. There will be a ton of frilly girly projects in the future! Yay! I'm excited! are you excited?!
