I finally conquered stenciling!

So remember when I tried to stencil my entry way and it didn't go so well? Then I had to paint over it and do stripes, but it all worked out in the end because the stripes rocked my entry way. Well if not see the final transformation of that adventure HERE. Anyways, I swore that I would never try stenciling again after that big mishap, but guess what?! I forgot about the pain, agony, and long hours needed for the job. So I tackled a BIG project, well I don't know how big it is, it did take FOREVA!! Here is the before of the project:

I had gold posterboard in the back of the shelving on my built ins. This was a very cool project actually and was prior to my blogging career ;) However, I was sick of the gold and wanted to add some blue (seems to be the theme with me lately). I thought about painting it a solid color, doing a different color posterboard, and even wallpaper. Then I decided a stencil!

I have always been in love with the stencil that Jones Design Company has on their site as a free pdf print out. I have seen so many other bloggers use this template and thought "eh, how hard can it be"? Ok people I am not going to sugar coat it. I drew out every single stencil, added lines around the stencil lines, painted, and had to do a second coat of paint. Oh yeah then touch ups and the lovely job of erasing all the pencil marks that don't get covered. Lets just say that your back will hurt and you may develop carpal tunnel in your hand, but look at this after it is so worth it all!!

Don't you just love it! I just want to stare at it all day......Makes you forget the work, doesn't it? I still have a couple more projects up my sleeve for this room. Think pillows and re-upholstery. Stay tuned!

Oh my gosh, that sounds like a ton of work. But looking at your final project, it sounds like it was totally worth it. I loooove the color. It's gorgeous!

I love how this project turned out. I actually just picked up some wrapping paper in the same design and am going to put it on the back of my entertainment center as well. Stopping over from Serenity Now. I'm going to check out the rest of your blog now. Hope you will stop by my blog and say Hi too. Have a great day. :)
