For the love of turquoise

I love turquoise! Do you love turquoise? If not I don't think we can be friends. Just joking, but there may be something wrong with you if you don't. Just saying. It is such a happy fun color. I want to paint my whole house turquoise. Ok maybe I don't love turquoise that much, but it is lovely. Any who, I finished the outside of the sneak peak I gave you yesterday. I bought this dresser on craigslist like 6 months ago. I really planned on finishing it that week. Then I started another project and another and another, you get the point. So now here I am 6 months later finishing it, finally. Here is the ONLY two crappy before pics I have of this poor thing. Sorry :(

It was pretty beaten up on the top and the inside....Lets just say ewwww. So I sanded her down, inside and out. Then I painted the top in Minwax deep walnut. Used a Valspar turquoise paint (doesn't say the paint color on the can, but if you are interested I can find out the actual name). I then did a light wash with the deep walnut and clear glaze. Finally, I used Minwax finishing wax paste in natural to seal the deal. Oh then lightly sanded the edges to give it a bit of an aged look. The final product is swoon worthy:

These numbers were stamped on the back. I thought they were too cool to cover up.
This tag was on the back too. It has the original owners name and address on it. Although I can't really make anything out. Thought that was neat too. Maybe custom made for this person?
Here is before the finishing wax and knobs were put back on

I left the back slats unpainted. I just couldn't cover up those numbers and tag. It was too neat.

She has come a long way. I love love how it turned out. My husband said I should sell it on craigslist instead of keeping it. hmmmmmm maybe.....

I still need to do something with the inside. I am thinking about getting some shelf liners and adhering them to the bottom of the drawers and cabinet. There is also a little bit of a musty smell to it. Any suggestions on how to get that out? Maybe some Kilz?

Check out where I party

LOVE it! I am also obsessed w/ turquoise--so I think I made the friend cut! :) The hardware is just too pretty. I wish I could buy it from you on craigslist-it would look super cute as a bathroom vanity. i know I couldn't part with it! Good job!

I'm obsessed with turquoise as well. It's actually my fave color. I'm re-doing a room in my house in black, white, and turquoise. I actually also just painted a dresser similar to yours in that color along with black accents. (Will have pics on my blog in a few days probably) I love how yours turned out and love how you painted the top black.

This piece is almost exactly like a piece I just redid. It looks great. I love the color. Put the drawers out in the sun, its the best way. You can also wipe them down with vinegar. I usually decoupage my drawers with fabric, but on my most recent project I used wrapping paper and spray adhesive and painted the inside of the drawers. I love it! Would love if you shared your project here:

I have this exact same peice of furniture from my mother. It too has the stamps on the back. Over the years its lost nobs and handles, but youve inspired me to refinish it!
