EAT sign

Blogger is funky today. I wrote this post once and then had to rewrite half of it because it dissapeared! What's up Blogger?!?!

I did a couple projects over the weekend and really was having a hard time deciding what to show today. I thought I would take a little break, for today, from my living room happenings to show you a sign I made for the kitchen.

Here is the lovely finished product:

I took this piece of scrap wood that was left over from my console table (that was awhile ago, some of you might not know what I'm talking about. So, check it out HERE)
I stained it with Miniwax Dark Walnut wood stain and let it dry
I then Went to google images and found the leters E, A, and T that I liked. I blew up the letters to fit a page each and printed them out.
I cut out the letters and aranged them on the board (don't mind the crap in the background, just be happy that I recycle)
Put tape on the back of each letter and apply to the board
 Spray paint around the letters
Peel off the letters
Touch up with the walnut stain where the paint bled through. Then distress a bit with sand paper:
I then had my handy hubby make a frame to go around the plaque. We adhered it with liquid nails and caulked the edges. I then covered the EAT completely to protect it from the spray paint
I used Valspar's Berry spray paint in a gloss finish. I then sanded the finish a bit, after it dried completely of course. I used Rub 'n' Buff in silver and then applied the walnut stain a bit on the edges. The end result is perfect for my kitchen:

I loves it! Did you do any projects this weekend?

On a side note, my wonderful handy hubby started on my bead board in my guest bath this weekend. This girl is EXCITED!! Stay tuned for the reveal. Hopefully soon! Here is a little sneak peak for ya!

So cool! I like that you had stain letters with a paint background, as opposed to a dark background with paint letters. The font reminds me of the circus for some reason? Like, 1930s traveling circus, which is awesome.
