Faux roman shade

Faux roman shade? yeah um one that actually doesn't do anything, but look purty. Yep a big fat fake, that's what I made. I am pretty proud of it too! I am going to try something new here today how about a after picture before the boorrringgg tutorial. Sounds good? Good!!

Close up of the fabric so you can see the design:
This is the new curtain that's in my laundry room. I guess you kind of noticed with the WASH sign and now this, that my color scheme is gray and yellow. Alright now on with the tutorial:

 Supplies:
 Sewing machine
 One yard of fabric
one yard of fabric for lining
 one roll of coordinating ribbon
 hot glue gun

Ok so the thing is I did the liner at the end after I hung it up and decided It would look better with one. Sooooo you could do one now by fitting the two pieces of fabric together and hemming or you could be difficult like me and wait until the end.

So hem the sides and the bottom about 1/4 of an inch in. Iron down and sew a straight stitch

Now do the top and fold it down 2 1/2 inches (this is where the rod will go to hang up the curtain).
Now measure out three folds to make four sections. I measured 6 inch spaces and added 3 inches in between to where the fabric will fold under:
Now pin everything at the creases and down the center of the lines:

Sew down each horizontal line and then at each fold vertically

Now measure out two strips of ribbon for the sides and one for the bottom. Use your handy dandy hot glue gun to apply them to the curtain. Make two bows out of ribbon and glue those as well. Now you have yourself a faux roman shade :)
